Meet Jon

In September of 2020, Jon Acton became a stage 3 rectal cancer fighter in addition to a thirty year battle with Crohns disease. Cancer changed the trajectory of both his professional and personal life, forcing a medical retirement early as a school superintendent. Jon reinvented himself professionally co-authoring a book with his wife Lindsey titled “Broken Shells, a Perfektly Imperfekt Journey Through Cancer, Leadership and Love. Jon founded Broken Shells, a motivational life skills and climate and culture company providing keynote and motivational talks as well as climate and culture consulting for schools, businesses and organizations. Broken Shells was created on the fundamental ideas that we are ALL Beautifully Perfektly Imperfect. Our Broken Shells Life Stories are based on our Whys and Why Nots. We are urged to make the most of our time in order to make a positive impact in the world.

Jon Acton’s professional career has spanned over thirty years as an educator serving as a teacher, high school and college football coach, high school principal and district superintendent. Jon has been awarded the State of Indiana Educator of the Year by the American Legion; district assistant principal of the year and principal of the year by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP). While serving as a high school principal Jon led “The” Cascade High School of Clayton Indiana to a National Blue Ribbon Award by the United States Department of Education. (USDOE) The National Blue Ribbon Award Is the highest award a public school can achieve for academic and overall achievement and is considered a National Championship for excellence in public schools across the United States..

Jon’s most important roles are as husband and dad. Jon is married to his wife and best friend Lindsey,(author, speaker, educator) father to sons Jackson (14) and Andrew (7) and dad dog to two rescued pitties named Bryant and Harper Lee. Jon is a graduate of Indiana State University (Ed.S) Indiana Wesleyan University (M. Ed) and Indiana University - Bloomington (B.A.)
